2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer: The Urban and Woodland Adventurer

2026-02-23

Chevrolet took a bold risk by reviving the Trailblazer name for such a colorful and modern subcompact SUV. Nevertheless, the model quickly won over the public thanks to its concept and exceptional value for money. The American automaker's small SUV boasts a strong personality paired with cutting-edge technology, and that was more than enough to spark instant success upon its arrival on the market.

There aren't many changes on the menu for 2026 aside from a few minor improvements and some new color options. Even so, the Chevrolet Trailblazer remains a highly appealing choice.

Lineup and Pricing

The 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer lineup consists of four trims. It all starts with the LS model, which carries a starting price of $31,825. Next up is the LT trim, starting at $33,025. These are also the only two trims available with front-wheel drive.

Moving up the range, the RS model starts at $38,725 and features a sportier design. Finally, the Activ trim sits at the top of the lineup, also starting at $38,725, offering a more rugged and adventurous look.

Category and Competition

The Chevrolet Trailblazer competes in the subcompact SUV segment, a category that continues to grow increasingly competitive. Fortunately, it brings solid arguments to the table and lacks nothing when it comes to equipment.

Rivals: Buick Envista, Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Mitsubishi RVR, Nissan Kicks, Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota Corolla Cross, Volkswagen Taos

Design and Technology

Design matters more than ever today, and vehicles with strong character tend to be more popular. Fortunately, that's exactly what the Chevrolet Trailblazer delivers — and Chevrolet knows it. The brand has added several new color options for 2026, and this small SUV continues to turn heads.

Inside, the Trailblazer offers a modern and surprisingly spacious cabin. The driving position is very comfortable, and the ergonomics are well thought out. I particularly like the digital instrument cluster design and the 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It delivers quick and fluid responsiveness.

Performance

The Chevrolet Trailblazer offers two engine options. The first is a small 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and is available exclusively with front-wheel drive.

The second option is a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, which makes a noticeable difference in my opinion. This setup feels more dynamic. The CVT remains with front-wheel drive models, while all-wheel-drive versions are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

As for fuel consumption, it averages around 7.7 L/100 km to 7.8 L/100 km with front-wheel drive, regardless of engine choice. Adding all-wheel drive brings the average to approximately 8.7 L/100 km, which remains excellent.

Weak Points

A towing capacity of more than 1,000 pounds would have been appreciated.
Pricing climbs quickly from one trim to the next.

Strengths

It's a fun and versatile small vehicle to drive, and its off-road capabilities are impressive. It comes well equipped and features an attractive interior design.

Signature Element

The Chevrolet Trailblazer perfectly embodies what a modern, upscale and adventurous subcompact SUV should be.

Final Thoughts

Chevrolet has done an excellent job marketing the Trailblazer, whose personality and purpose are crystal clear. The model is popular — and for good reason. Its overall offering is very compelling, even in entry-level trims. Not to mention its build quality.

It's a model I strongly encourage you to check out if you haven't already.
